Piece It Together: Mosaic Art Introductory Workshop
July 11 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

AGES 12+ • FREE (limited to 15 per class) • OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY
Welcome to the wonderful world of mosaic art! Join us for one of these great workshops led by local artist Caron Learned with an introduction by Rabbi Debra Rappaport of Hineni. Mosaic art has long held a meaningful place in Jewish culture, serving as a vibrant expression of spiritual symbolism, communal identity, and historical storytelling.
In this beginner class, each participant will have fun learning the basics of this ancient art form. Participants will complete a Mosaic Wall Panel, and the class will be divided into three parts: Design/Layout and Tile Cutting Techniques, How to Glue and Transfer, and Grouting Tips & Tricks. All materials are included. Completed mosaics will be on display at the Sabes Center JCC at Barry Family Campus in July & August.
Caron Learned is a public artist from Minnesota specializing in mosaic art, a love that began more than a decade ago. Caron’s most recognized artistic accomplishment thus far has been in the design partnership with Mercedes Austin, creating two, 10ft mosaic murals at the main terminal of the Minneapolis, St. Paul International Airport. Caron is inspired by the light that shines within us, and the desire to connect communities through art.
