An Artivism Journey Virtual Workshop: “What We Are Made Of – A Creative Gathering” with Hanoch Piven

December 7 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

In this online workshop, we will use the Piven method, which consists of creating images using everyday objects with the goal of experiencing a moment of self-reflection. Creating this way does not require any previous artistic experience or technical talent for drawing. Creating a collage with everyday objects is a window to free association in a nonjudgmental environment, stimulating reflection on the very essence of creativity. The creative/artistic space is a place where the external noises are reduced thus allowing us to listen both inwardly and to each other. Using the objects we have gathered ahead of time, we will create a depiction of our “individual path” expressing, with metaphors, our traits, challenges and stories.

Hanoch’s art is about seeing what’s around us in a new way. About paying attention, which in Hebrew means לשים לב – to put heart. Paying attention to little objects trains us in ‘seeing’ and paying attention to larger issues: to our environment, to others.

About An Artivism Journey: Art Speaks

This project invites artists and creatives to explore the powerful intersection of art and activism through interactive workshops featuring inspiring presentations and hands-on making. Together, participants will learn, create, and exchange ideas on how art can amplify social movements and respond to pressing issues. In partnership between the Rehovot and MPLS communities, this program is a collaborative journey in harnessing artistic expression for change.

Planned in partnership with Minneapolis Jewish Federation, Minnesota JCC, Rimon: The Minnesota Jewish Arts Council and Parthership2Gether.
