The Catskills
August 28 @ 6:30 pm
Sabes Center Minneapolis

Step back in time and savor a sweet slice of Jewish-American history as we close out the summer with the Minnesota Premiere of The Catskills, a humorous and nostalgic documentary directed by Lex Gillespie (The Mamboniks). Dubbed “the Borscht Belt” and “the Jewish Alps,” the Catskills region was once a vibrant haven for generations of Jewish families, performers, and entertainers. Brimming with vintage home movies, postcards, photos, and menus, this delightful film captures the rise and fall of the legendary Catskills resorts. From the humble bungalows of immigrant families to the glitzy stages that launched comedy legends—and gave refuge to blacklisted artists—The Catskills is a heartfelt tribute to a singular time and place in Jewish cultural life. If you loved Dirty Dancing, you’ll love the real stories behind it. 2024 I USA I English I 85 mins
