Practical Self-Defense: Violence Prevention and Safety for Older Adults

Join us for this informative workshop led by Rob Schauinger, a life-long practitioner of martial arts and self-defense, who is passionate about educating community members on being safe and preventing violence. Topics will range from practical safety and situational awareness tips, to how to prevent scammers from taking advantage and will end with some demonstrations and opportunities to practice being safe.
Rob Schauinger has been teaching Martial Arts and Self Defense classes for the Minneapolis School system for the last 15 years and has been a Martial Arts instructor for over 35 years. He teaches a compilation of different styles from Southeast Asia including aspects of Wing Chun, Aikido, Jeet Kune Do, Silat and Indonesian Stick and Cane Movement. His classes and workshops are “non-traditional” in the sense that no specific uniforms are worn, no bowing to flags or instructors is performed and classes are structured around the individual needs and abilities of the students.
