Camp Butwin provides a full day summer care experience for school aged children in grades K-8. Under the supervision of caring and highly trained camp staff, campers are exposed to the wonders of nature on Camp Butwin’s 88 acre campus on the shores of Lake O’Brien. Our camp environment is infused with and informed by Jewish values such as welcoming new friends, caring for the earth, and acts of kindness. In addition to making life long friendships and memories, campers will have the opportunity to participate in favorite camp activities including canoeing and fishing, ropes course, horseback riding, outdoor skills, and more. Camp Butwin is filled with camp spirit, and offers the look and feel of an overnight camp experience in a day camp setting where campers will sleep at home in their own bed each night.

The Camp Butwin experience includes:

  • Cooperative and inclusive approach in an outdoor setting
  • Creative community experiences through song, dance, art and celebration
  • Building Jewish identity through Israeli and Jewish themed programming
  • Developing self-confidence and esteem by learning new skills and mastering old ones
  • A safe space that honors the rights and dignity all
  • And of course, we have lots and lots of FUN!

Yomi

(Entering Kindergarten)

Yomi (MY DAY in Hebrew) is a safe, nurturing environment for our youngest campers entering Kindergarten, to develop skills and transition to camp. Yomi campers have a rest time each day and enjoy a morning snack to help ease into a full day at camp. Campers will enjoy getting to experience all camp has to offer including swimming, meeting new friends, specialty activities, field trips and more! Special attention is given to the needs of our youngest campers as they adjust to the camp program. Activities are planned with their current developmental stages in mind and more time is included in their schedule for quiet activities and projects. To participate in Yomi, campers must turn 5 by September 1, 2024. Campers who need significant assistance from staff in changing/bathrooming should consider Camp Centerland at the Capp Center as an excellent option for summer care with the Minnesota JCC.
