CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

50/50
In this class, you will benefit from the stretching, balance, and relaxation of chair yoga, as well as the cardio and strength work of senior aerobics. 50% Chair Yoga, 50% Senior Aerobics, 100% Fun.

Aikido
A Japanese art of self-defense utilizing the principle of nonresistance. This class incorporates gentle stretching exercises as well as movements that will elevate participants’ heartrate, ending practice with brief Meditation.

Align & Flow Yoga
Attention is drawn to the alignment of the body in foundational yoga postures along with a moving sequence that cultivates deeper awareness of the connection between mind, body, and breath, garnering the incredible health benefits of the practice. In this class, warm up stretches for flexibility lead into targeted poses for building strength followed by a flow of poses for a cardio workout concluding with a wind-down and guided meditation.

Alignment Yoga
In this Yoga class, participants can expect an anatomical (area of the body) focus paired with an alignment action (how to engage, move lengthen). Yogis will learn to set up peak postures like arm balances and inversions as well as explore body awareness like noticing how the pelvis changes throughout a series of poses.

Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga is a very dynamic and athletic form of hatha yoga, made up of six series or levels, with a fixed order of postures. It is rooted in vinyasa, the flowing movements between postures, with a focus on energy and breath. While it is a very physical practice, it also promotes mental clarity and inner peace.

Aqua Zumba
Aqua Zumba® combines some of the traditional elements of aqua fitness classes (such as jumping jacks and cross-country skiing) with the upbeat, Latin-infused dance moves and music Zumba® fitness is famous for.

Aqua Exercise for Arthritis
Exercising in water is a gentle way to exercise joints and muscles. The buoyancy of the water supports and lessens stress on the joints and encourages freer movement which can facilitate the exercising of joints affected by arthritis. Classes are held in the smaller, warmer Rec Pool with an instructor leading movements from the pool deck.

Balance & Mobility
Geared towards active agers, this class will improve balance, muscle strength, flexibility, and mobility to enhance overall physical health and better functioning in everyday living. Participants will use a sturdy chair to aid in balance movements and will incorporate basic stretches to improve range of motion and posture. Movements are designed to reduce the risk of injury when completing daily activities like reaching and bending.

Barre
Barre utilizes the ballet barre (or a chair) to perform small isometric movements and pulses that will target your glutes, legs, core and arms. Barre will give you a total body, low impact workout in record time.

Ballet for All
Ballet is well known for its fitness benefits, building muscle and core strength while improving balance, coordination and posture. Ballet for All welcomes everyone — no experience necessary!  Whether you have never danced a step, or if you are a seasoned dancer wanting to keep up your basic technique, you will benefit from this class. We will start with a series of exercises at the barre to warm up and condition our bodies, followed by some basic center practice (no barre) where we will move and feel like dancers!  Please wear workout clothes and either ballet slippers or socks. If you have long hair, it is a good idea to secure it back with a hair tie

Bodypump
Bodypump is a barbell-based workout that’s specifically designed to help you get lean, toned and fit. It uses a combination of motivating music, fantastic instructors and scientifically proven moves to help you achieve these targets more quickly than you would working out on your own.

Brain & Body Yoga
A non-traditional yoga practice helping participants to experience love, joy and peace. Mindful movements to open blood/energy flow in the body with emphasis on breathing and meditation to connect mind and body.

Cardio Dance
Burn calories and tone your body in this high energy dance workout that incorporates choreography with slow and fast rhythms.

Cardio Kickboxing
High energy workout for every level of fitness. Build stamina, improve coordination, and burn calories while having fun. Punch, kick and jab your way through this fast paced cardio class.

Cardio and Strength Conditioning (Power)
This dynamic bodyweight strength and conditioning class is Oula’s Power format. It begins with an empowering warm-up, followed by high-energy strength tracks to get the heart pumping! Then, we improve our mind-muscle connections on the mat with upper body, lower body, and core tracks. Perfect for all fitness levels, this class is equally challenging and rewarding! Most importantly, the music is carefully selected to inspire you to POWER through the workout with strength you can feel!

Chair Yoga
Chair Yoga class is a combination of sitting and standing postures including balance; Thursday’s Chair Yoga class includes sitting postures only and based on Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga, “Get Fit Where You Sit”. Both classes include Pranayama and Meditation.

Cycle
One of the best cardio workouts around! Indoor cycling is for everyone as it is easy on the joints and modifiable. Using pace, resistance and recovery intervals on the bike, build endurance and torch calories with this mood boosting workout.

Feldenkrais
A method of exercise therapy thoughtfully designed to increase your ease and range of motion, improve your flexibility and coordination, and rediscover your innate capacity for graceful, efficient movement.

Fit Flow
Inspired by classic elements of Vinyasa Yoga Flow and incorporating familiar bodyweight mat-based exercises, this balance and core challenging class is for anyone looking to tone up and improve strength and flexibility.

Forever Fit
Stay strong and fit! This class for active older adults addresses strength, stamina, balance, and flexibility with a variety of equipment. This is a non-impact class – no jumping.

Forever Fit Yoga
Yoga for balance, flexibility, and mobility designed specifically for Active Agers. A perfect complement to Forever Fit, and Cardio and Strength class regulars. This yoga practice is accessible to those brands new to yoga as well as those who have been practicing yoga for years. The only requirement is that participants must be able to transition from the floor to standing unassisted.

Gentle Yoga
Meditative and restorative, Gentle Yoga is intended to be an easier, less intense, non-strenuous yoga practice.

Guided Meditation
Because our minds tend to wander, the process of meditation with the guidance of an experienced teacher helps to aid in bringing the focus back to the participant on their mat. All people are invited to begin a new meditation practice or deepen a practice they’ve done for years.

Hatha Yoga
This style of yoga is performed more slowly, and participants will find themselves in more static holds rather than flows from one pose to the next. This practice will focus on posture and breathing techniques in sync with movements. The word Hatha comes from Sanskrit and means force. An excellent class for those new to their yoga journey as well as experienced yogis.

Strength/Cardio
Join us for a full-body strength and cardio based experience using various types of resistance equipment and body weight movements. Expect a fun class workout focused around strength and cardio while soaking up the motivation of a group setting.

H.I.I.T. (High Intensity Interval Training)
This interval-based class combines full-body strength training with high intensity cardio bursts designed to strengthen your body, improve your endurance and clear your mind.

Kripalu Yoga
Kripalu means compassion. This is a moderate yoga flow class taught in the Kripalu tradition of inquiry-based practice that inspires awareness of breath, body, heart, and mind. Participants will practice Pranayama (focus on the breath) and Meditation and can expect an adaptable approach to traditional yoga postures in a variety of sequences.

LaBlast
Fitness powered by Dance! LaBlast® Fitness is a partner-free dance fitness workout created by world-renowned dancer and fitness expert Louis van Amstel (as seen on Dancing with the Stars). It’s accessible for all levels – from the absolute beginner to the experienced dancer. LaBlast® takes you through a diverse mix of famous ballroom dances set to your favorite music, everything from pop and rock to hip-hop and country. Experience the full array of dance styles from Jive to Foxtrot and Viennese Waltz to Lindy Hop. Whether you want to tone your body, maintain a healthy lifestyle, learn to dance, or just have a great time, LaBlast® offers something for everyone.

Latin Hip Hop
Dance and sweat to music that you love in a high energy cardio workout. Classic Latin dance steps meet modern Hip Hop moves for this class designed for all bodies and fitness levels to come together and have fun.

Lift n’ Pump
A full body strength class that utilizes barbells and dumbbells to alignment cues and hands on adjustments support students’ understanding of how to approach well-organized full body movement. Through the poses, we learn to identify imbalances and work with them skillfully. The poses are the tools to learn functional postural and movement habits. The result is greater kinesthetic intelligence, ease, and stability both on and off the mat.

Mat Pilates
Mat Pilates is a strengthening and lengthening form of exercise that focuses on your core (trunk) muscles while also training your arms and legs. As long as participants are able to get onto the floor on a mat, this practice can be modified for any age, body, or fitness level.

Advanced Mat Pilates 
This more challenging style of Mat Pilates is an accessible, low-impact class that can build strength, improve posture, and support a mind-body connection. Participants will practice strengthening and lengthening exercises that focus on the core (truck) muscles of the body while also training their arms and legs. While Advanced Mat Pilates is more intense than an Intermediate Mat Pilates class, new-to-Pilates exercisers are still welcome to join and are reminded to take their time to focus on smaller movements for proper execution of the exercises to enjoy the many benefits Pilates has to offer.

Mat Pilates Foundations (1.0)  
Build a solid Pilates foundation in a safe and effective group experience. Learning through movement and finding proper alignment to assist in building core strength.
For all fitness levels this class can easily be modified for those with physical limitations. This class encourages you to listen to your body so you can work within your body’s strength and will encourage you to stay safe while growing in your practice. Sessions will focus on overall body awareness and symmetry.

Mat Pilates Fundamentals

Mat Pilates Stretch & Strength (1.5)
In this intermediate level training session on the mat you will build full bodied strength and mobility. Move at a moderate pace, utilizing foundational knowledge of the Pilates principles to explore both dynamic movement exercises and restorative stretches. Exercises will progress to give you a more demanding workout focusing on balance, stability, and control. Prior experience in the Foundations class is encouraged.

Mind/Body/Recovery
This class is an oasis of calm. Range of motion and mobility exercises, core strength, calming techniques, deep stretch, and guided visualization combine to renew your body and mind.

Oula
Oula merges high-intensity cardio with easy-to-follow choreography, mindfulness practices, and a culture of inclusivity — all to an energetic pop soundtrack. Every Oula class empowers participants to challenge their bodies and process their emotions through music, movement, and, most importantly, a community connection.

Oula One
Oula One is a heart-based, musically-inspired, yoga-dance fusion class. Done barefoot on the mat, with no jumping or impact, making it accessible to nearly all.

Pilates + Barre Fusion
Combines Pilates Mat and Floorwork with standing Barre, develops core strength, endurance, stability and balance in a unique blend of exercises. Props will be incorporated into each session, including balls, weights, rings, and bands for a mind-body experience that will bring awareness to breathe and improve posture. Beginners to advanced movers welcomed.

Pop Pilates
A dynamic whole-body workout choreographed to upbeat tunes that blends Pilates-inspired movements with cardio bursts and strength training to deliver results.

POUND
Full-body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and Pilates-inspired movements. Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out. Designed for all fitness levels, POUND® provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rockin’ out! The workout is easily modifiable and the alternative vibe and welcoming philosophy appeals to rockstars of all ages and abilities.

POUND Unplugged
Blending 20 minutes of high-intensity training with 10 minutes of rhythmic breathing, mindfulness and meditation, POUND Unplugged will make you sweat, release, and boost neurochemicals before quickly settling back into a peaceful, recharged, and empowered state. All within 30 minutes.

Power Strength
Set to music, this class is a full body strength and cardio workout. Instructors will lead participants through perfectly timed sets of squats, chest presses, deadlifts, dead rows, curls, tricep extensions, and more. Finishing with a track dedicated to core strength and then a guided stretch.

Power Vinyasa
Explore your limits and challenge your practice with this powerful and energetic form of flowing through yoga poses in sync with the breath. Lengthen and tone muscles by refining and holding poses longer than a regular Vinyasa class. Improve endurance as you focus on controlling your inhale and exhale throughout your elevated Vinyasa practice.

Power Vinyasa + Core Strength 
Combining the same challenging yoga flow as a Power Vinyasa with added time spent on the mat focusing on exercises that core muscles.

Power Vinyasa Yoga
A more vigorous and dynamic style of yoga that combines the flow of Vinyasa with strength and flexibility training. Well-suited for a diverse range of fitness levels, it is helpful to be familiar with yoga poses to participate in this class.

Restorative Yoga
This style of yoga involves holding gentle poses on the mat. It is a passive practice that focuses on stillness and rest to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, slowing down the heart rate and regulating blood pressure. Teachers will encourage deep breathing to help muscles relax and allow the body to let go of stress and tension living in the physical body. No yoga experience is needed. A perfect practice for anyone interested in yoga, gentle stretching, and recovery for the body and mind.

Roll & Restore
Guided foam rolling and stretching for recovery and relaxation. Participants will be standing as well as on the mat using a foam roller and stretching strap. Accessible to all fitness levels.

SilverSneakers® BOOM
SilverSneakers® BOOM was developed by leading fitness experts to improve strength, flexibility and endurance. BOOM Move is a fun, dance-inspired workout designed to focus on cardio fitness with easy-to-follow moved set to energizing music.

SilverSneakers® Classic
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength and range of movement. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing and a SilverSneakers® ball are offered for resistance. A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support.

SilverSneakers® Yoga
SilverSneakers® Yoga will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of seated and standing postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation promote stress reduction and mental clarity.

Step
A classic cardio workout that has been around for decades, step aerobics uses a raised platform to step up, around and down from in different patterns to boost your heart rate and breathing and strengthen muscles.

Step Aerobics + Sculpt
Step aerobics is a classic cardio workout. It’s lasted for decades for a simple reason: It delivers results. The “step” is a 4-inch to 12-inch raised platform; participants choose how many risers they would like to use for class. You step up, around, and down from the platform in different patterns to the time of music to boost your heart rate and breathing and strengthen your muscles.

Strength Circuits
A circuit training mix combining strength, power, balance, and core stability exercises for a great total-body session to build and maintain strength and dynamic mobility.

Tai Chi
Meditation in motion, this practice involves controlled breathing in tandem with a series of slow gentle movements and physical postures called forms. This ancient Chinese discipline is low-impact and slow moving, making it perfect for every age and fitness level. Participants will learn to breathe deeply and naturally while performing slow intentional movements without using force.

Vinyasa Yoga
Often called flow yoga, Vinyasa is a style of yoga with focus on transitions and movements, with less time spent in stationary poses.

Water Aerobics
Also referred to as Aqua Aerobics and Aqua Fit, this is a low impact, higher intensity class where no swimming skills are needed. Classes are designed to improve flexibility, range of motion, strength, muscle tone and cardiovascular endurance while using the resistance of the water to cushion the feet, knees, and back. Exercises are led by a certified instructor and are easy to follow.

Yin Yoga & Meditation
Suitable for all students, Yin Yoga is a slower-paced, more meditative version of the popular physical and spiritual discipline of yoga. Class usually consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body.

Yoga for Bone Health
A class for building bone density for osteoporosis and osteopenia. Learn familiar yoga postures that focus on bone strength; these specific postures are theresult of a 10-year research study by Dr. Loren Fishman, MD, which resulted in increased bone density in the spine, hips and femur by yoga practitioners. Poses practiced are specifically identified for their safety and their calculated effects to increase bone in the areas where most fractures take place. Handouts provided to class participants to encourage daily practice of postures at home. Class will start out slowly and build to sustain holding each posture up to 40-70 seconds. Meditation, breath practices and deep relaxation will be included in every class.

Yoga Lab
Experienced yoga participants and those who have never taken a yoga class before, Yoga Lab is for you. Deepen your yoga practice, improve strength and flexibility, and perfect your favorite poses. If you’re a new yogi just looking to learn the poses you’ll see in a class, this is an opportunity to experience yoga in a supportive, judgment free zone. Spend time learning and refining poses with the help of an experienced yoga instructor in Yoga Lab at the J.

Yoga Sampler
You don’t have to be an experienced yogi to enjoy this class featuring various styles of yoga. This 60 minute yoga practice begins with a gentle yoga warm up, slips into Hatha flexibility, then participants are guided through some Ashtanga precision strength and balance work followed by Vinyasa movement and finally down quietly into a Yin surrender of stillness. The session concludes with a moment of guided meditation and relaxation.

XaBeat
High energy, medium impact, cardio dance workout set to popular music. This non-intimidating dance-based class uses simple routines so all fitness levels can participate.

Zumba®
Easy Latin Dance steps, international rhythms and safe exercise make up the dance craze that has swept the globe. This is exercise in disguise.
