Camp Butwin

Welcome to Camp Butwin!

Established in 1958, Camp Butwin is a day camp that spans 88 scenic wooded acres along the shores of Lake O’Brien in Eagan. Camp Butwin offers a range of activities for kids in grades K-8, including daily swimming (in a pool!), canoeing, fishing, a ropes course, horseback riding, outdoor skills, sports, and arts & crafts.

Camp is for Everyone!

Camp Butwin packs the summer with exciting, age-appropriate adventures for kids! Offering one-week and three-week sessions plus specialty camps – there’s something for everyone

Shoreshim (entering Kindergarten)

Shoreshim campers get the perfect introduction to camp life. With daily rest time, morning snacks, and age-appropriate activities, kids ease into full camp days as they swim, make friends, and explore everything camp has to offer.

Galim (entering 1st)

From fishing and music to theater, sports, and Jewish programming, Galim campers get a balance of high-energy fun, creativity, and quiet moments to recharge.

Sabra (entering 2nd)

Sabra campers discover new camp activities, including the high ropes course and expanded boating opportunities, while enjoying camp favorites from previous summers.

K'far (entering 3rd and 4th)

K’far campers experience the best of camp, including boating, outdoor adventure, music, nature, arts and crafts, sports, and Jewish-themed programming.

Kibbutz (entering 5th and 6th)

Kibbutz campers participate in a wide range of camp activities, including outdoor adventure, boating, sports, drama, and nature. Kids in this program are known for their energy and spirit, and are looked up to by younger campers.

Tzofim (entering 7th and 8th)

Tzofim campers, known as “Tzofimers”, are the oldest at Camp Butwin, and have expanded choice time, with more focus on their favorite camp activities.

Gesher Specialty Camps

Campers in one-week Gesher specialty camps spend half their day immersed in specialized programming and also participate in classic Butwin activities like swimming, sports, art, drama, and dance.

CITs (entering 9th and 10th)

CITs (counselors-in-training) gain real experience working with campers and staff while developing leadership, teamwork, and weekly training sessions. CITs are assigned to camper groups for two weeks, and also receive a $100 stipend per session!

BUTWIN SPECIALTY CAMPS

Available to grades 3-6. Take a deep dive into a favorite specialty activity, with many fun choices throughout the summer from horseback riding to sports and more. Specialty Camp campers will still have the chance to participate in daily swimming and other camp favorites!

Available to grades K-8. Need something to do for the late summer weeks? Camp has you covered! Our extended weeks will feature swimming and other camp favorites, as well as special guests and other fun surprises, at a fun and laid-back end of summer pace as we slide into fall and get ready for the school year!

COUNSELORS IN TRAINING (CIT)

Available to grades 9-10. CITs are Camp Butwin’s future leaders. During each three-week CIT session, CITs will be embedded within a camper group or at a specialty area, where they will work closely with staff to learn the ins and outs of what it takes to make camp tick. CITs can receive up to a $150 CIT stipend for each session worked. -New this summer! We are excited to introduce the opportunity for our CITs to continue to utilize the skills they learned during the summer during our Extended Camp Sessions. Whether your child requires limited support or a dedicated advocate, we strive to make the appropriate accommodations in all our camp programs. We arrange intake meetings to learn about your child’s needs and determine the resources they need to thrive at camp.
