TCJFF Screenings: All About the Levkoviches (with Film Short “The Father, The Son and The Rav Kalmenson”)

October 28 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Told with mordant humor and genuine warmth, Hungarian filmmaker Ádám Breier’s film follows a Jewish family on the winding path to reconciliation. Tamas (Zoltán Bezerédi), a gruff but tender boxing coach in Budapest, has long been estranged from his son Ivan (Tamás Szabó Kimmel), who converted to Orthodox Judaism and moved to Israel, where he had a son of his own. When Ivan returns with young Ariel (Leo Gagel) for his mother’s funeral, father and son are forced into a long-awaited confrontation. Masterfully acted and directed, the film strikes a delicate balance of comedy and pathos, making this intimate family drama both poignant and deeply engaging.
