The Shmita Project Exhibit Reception

June 30 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Explore and celebrate the art of The Shmita Project exhibit, including joyful singing and deep connection led by song leader Sarina Partridge (Minneapolis, MN). Sarina will teach original songs, speaking to themes of the Shmita year, for community singing – simple, satisfying harmony songs, taught by ear in a way that welcomes all singers. Come view this special exhibit and stay for communal song!

Sarina Partridge is a musician, song-leader and educator in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She feels most alive when learning, creating and sharing songs. Sarina performs, teaches, and tours with a wide variety of music projects – place-based music inspired by time in wilderness, Eastern European and Yiddish song, community song-leading, old-time music… and everything in between. She has a passion for connecting people with their own creativity and with community, and for using song to help build the world we all deserve. sarinapartridge.com

About the Shmita Project Exhibit
The current Hebrew year, 5782, is a Shmita year. Shmita means “release” in Hebrew and refers to the seventh year in a seven-year cycle (like the seven-day cycle culminating in Shabbat). According to the Torah, during the seventh year, God commands us to let the land rest, release debts, resolve disputes, and to open our hands and hearts to those in need. The Shmita Project asks us to consider how do we bring this tradition alive in an era when we no longer rely on the rhythms and harvest of our fields to survive. Featuring submissions to Hazon’s Shmita Project, this multimedia exhibit showcases artwork from all over the country with related programming that will engage the community with the art and provide opportunities to gain their own personal insights about shmita.

RSVP to our Facebook Event and let us know if you will be joining us.
